A Bachelor of Science (honours) graduate from the National University of Singapore majoring in Physics, Raufie Shafie began his teaching career at Raffles Junior College in 1998. His belief in a child’s exposure to a well-rounded education is reflected in his wide-ranging contributions as coaches of the sailing and the women’s soccer teams, and teacher mentor of the Electronics Club. As part of his Masters in Education thesis, Raufie organized a national toy invention competition for high school students to investigate their inventive mindset. Due to popular response, the competition successfully ran for five years.
Raufie was fortunate to be part of SOTA in 2007 to help kick start the initiative. He left for New Zealand in 2009 to further enrich his life experiences with his family. In Auckland, he taught at ACG Parnell College for two years.
Raufie loves sports and the outdoors, and dabbles in photography in his spare time.
