Joanna attained her Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree, majoring in Chemistry, from the National University of Singapore and her Postgraduate Diploma in Education with credit from the National Institute of Education. She was a recipient of the Teaching Award given by the Ministry of Education.
Prior to joining SOTA, Joanna taught Chemistry at Tampines Junior College from 2003-2008. She was selected to participate in the Teachers’ Local Attachment Programme, jointly organised by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). Through the programme, Joanna had many opportunities to interact with scientists and to gain exposure to research processes, which enabled her to impart her new-found knowledge to her students.
Joanna plays the violin and took part in many performances organised by the school.
Joanna aims to enable her students to see the relevance of Science in their daily lives through helping them make connections between the Arts and Science.
