Hasina graduated with a Bachelor in Science degree, majoring in Chemistry from the National University of Singapore and Post Graduate Diploma in Education (Credit) from the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

She began her career as a Science and Chemistry teacher at Fairfield Methodist Secondary School in 2001 and was there till 2003. She was a part of the pioneer Leadership Development Team in Fairfield while being a part of the dynamic Science Department. She took on graduating classes and was active in school based programmes like Learn@ Work where students exhibited their learning in a typical Science classroom to the public and parents. Throughout her stay in Fairfield, she tried to infuse creativity and inquiry in the Science or Chemistry classroom.

She joined Henderson Secondary School in 2004 and was given the opportunity to lead the Henderson Dance in 2006. Under her leadership, dance attained excellence in the local arts arena. With the help of the newly appointed dance instructor, her dance girls took part in the one of mass display items “Flight of Splendour” at the 2008 Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Opening Ceremony while maintaining the Silver award in the SYF (Central Judging) in 2007. She stayed on as an integral member of the Dance team and was proud to be part of them when the girls achieved the Gold Award in the SYF (Central Judging) in 2011.

While being an active part of the arts scene in Henderson, she took on graduating classes and her classes performed well for the national examinations. She was also a part an integral part of the Internationalisation Team and was a forged new structure with her colleague in the early years that the programme was started in the school.

Hasina strongly believes that every student is an individual and must be nurtured to draw their innate ability and talents and develop them to the fullest degree and that involves more than just teaching the content of a subject but connecting with the student.

Being actively involved in the arts while teaching the Sciences, Hasina believes and keenly seeks opportunities in leveraging on the Arts and using it as a catalyst in making the learning of Chemistry meaningful and relevant to her students.
