
Dirk Johan Stromberg is an award-winning composer whose music has been performed and programmed throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia. He holds a Bachelors in Music Composition from Texas Tech University and a Masters of Music from Brooklyn College at City University of New York with an emphasis on integrating technology in acoustic composition.
Dirk’s previous teaching appointments include positions at Brooklyn College, Istanbul Bilgi University and Saigon Technology University. He has been a guest lecturer at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory, Vietnam National University College of Mathematics and University of the Philippines. Dirk was also a founding director of the Ho Chi Minh City International Contemporary Music Festival in Vietnam, a festival dedicated to artistic exchanges between composers from Vietnam, United States, Europe and Asia. As a teacher, Dirk also founded the Bilgi interactive sound project, a student incentive organisation that was founded to bolster community amongst composers through concerts and workshops.
Dirk has received recognition from Institute of Studies in American Music and Music at the Anthology and has been artist-in-residence at the Studio for Electro-Instrumental Music (STEIM), Amsterdam, as well as Brooklyn Center for Computer Music. His music has been released on a number of compilations as well as solo albums.
