Meghalaa Kuppan obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Tamil Language and Literature from Madurai Kamaraj University. Prior to joining SOTA, she has taught the Tamil Language for 16 years. She had also served as a Curriculum Planning Officer for Civics and Moral Education (Primary) at the Ministry of Education from 2006 – 2009. Meghalaa was also awarded the PS21 Star Service Award by the Public Service Division in 2009.
In her previous teaching stint, Meghalaa was in charge of the student performers from the Symphony Band and Indian Dance co-curricular activities. Meghalaa believes that an arts education helps students learn to identify and better appreciate their culture as well as opens opportunities for them to participate in the traditional art forms of their own communities.
