Cheok Mei graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Social Science (Hons) degree in Political Science. She then went on to join the National Institute of Education to get her teaching diploma.
Cheok Mei started her teaching career in Jin Tai Secondary School before going on to a Centralised Institute. She decided to leave teaching in order to gain some work experience outside the school environment. She has worked as an Information Officer, Broadcast Journalist and Administrator. After eight years in the corporate world, she decided that she would return to teaching. For the past 11 years, Cheok Mei taught in three independent schools offering the Integrated Programme.
Cheok Mei enjoys painting and she wished she had pursued her interests in her youth but it's never too late, she hopes to be able to go back to painting when she retires.
