School is World’s Best
Among the local honours at 2010’s World Architectural Awards in Barcelona, local firm WOHA beat 14 other entries to win the award for World’s Best Learning Building for its SOTA project.

Under a new strategic partnership between the school and National Youth Council (NYC), SOTA will benefit from a significant funding boost of $440,000 from NYC between October 2010 to March 2014 for both local and overseas Service, Action in Community (SAC) programmes.

SOTA to offer International Baccalaureate Diploma in 2011
During the SOTA Awards Day 2010, SOTA Principal, Mrs Rebecca Chew announced that SOTA would offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma programme to its students in 2011. The ceremony also marked the handing out of the inaugural Dr Lee Boon Yang Student of the Year Awards. Year 4 Dance student Chia Poh Hian, one of the three winners of the Dr Lee Boon Yang Student of the Year Awards and recipient of the 2010 National Arts Council Arts Scholarship (Overseas), was among the 160 students who received awards for their academic and artistic achievements. Also, the International Baccalaureate Organisation has expressed interest for SOTA – one of the five IB centres in the world to pilot a dance programme – to share its best practices with other IB schools.
